Located on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores archipelago, Gorreana is the oldest, and currently unique, tea plantation in Europe.
Internationally recognized as a first-class tea producer, Gorreana has been a family business since 1883. Planted hundreds of kilometres away from industrial pollution in the vast mountains of the lush Gorreana estate, without using any herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, dyes or preservatives and harvested between April and September, Gorreana's tea (black and green) is a 100% organic product.
Visited annually by thousands of people, Gorreana as a plantation, factory and museum, is an idyllic place to enjoy a cup of tea while enjoying the original 1840 Marshall machines still in operation at the factory. The smell of fresh tea and flowers that surround the property associated with the stunning view of the blue sea and the heady green of the mountains constitutes an authentic paradise as peculiar as tea, which owes its unique characteristics to the climate, to the PH of the clay soil , acid and rich in minerals and, of course, the sea breeze
