Where? Ponta Delgada
When? All year round.
Why? Because it's my home town, because it's beautiful, historical and seaside.
Best local restaurant? So many! A Tasca, Taberna Açor, Mercado da Colmeia...
Best typical dish / snack from the region? Barnacles, limpets, cozido das furnas, queijadas de Vila Franca.
What typical souvenir can you buy? Micaelense ceramics, tea, and sculptures from Vila Franca.
What is there to see/do/experience? Santo Cristo Church, stroll along the waterfront and marina, have a cup of Gorreana tea at one of the many esplanades.
A curiosity? Ponta Delgada was originally a small settlement of fishermen's houses that developed when the capital of São Miguel at the time, Vila Franca do Campo, was destroyed by the great earthquake of 1522.
